Victim left with brain bleed after brutal attack in Liverpool City Centre - police need your help

assault

Detectives are issuing CCTV images of a man who may have information that may assist with police enquiries following an assault in Liverpool City Centre.

At around 9pm on Sunday 26 February we received a report that a man was assaulted as he was walking down Wood Street with friends.

It was reported that the victim and his friends were approached by three men who shouted at them. One of the men then punched the victim who fell onto the pavement.
The victim suffered a small bleed on the brain and cuts and bruises to his face.

CCTV and witness enquiries have been carried out near Wood Street and Matthew Street and detectives have issued CCTV images of a man they believe could assist with their investigation.

Detective Inspector Chris Saidi said: “Thankfully the man’s injuries were not life threatening and he is now recovering at home, but this was still a frightening attack for him to endure that could have left him gravely injured.

“Since the incident occurred, we have carried out a number of CCTV and witness enquiries and would like to appeal to anyone who recognises this man pictured or saw the attack to come forward and speak to us as we believe they could help with our enquiries.”

“Similarly, if you took photos on your mobile phone on Wood Street when this happened or have dashcam footage please come forward as soon as possible.
