Warning of road closures on Sunday in Southport

tri

Good morning from Southport Police Station.

It's the beginning of another weekend of beautiful weather here in 'Sunny Southport' and that means the roads will soon be busy with people driving to the Sefton coastline. The weather will see plenty of bikers riding to Southport, so be aware of the likelihood of more motorcycles on the roads.

Bikers, pump those tyres up and take it easy. We want you to get to the carousel and home again safely.

For families, If you bring young ones to the seafront and beaches, make sure you arrange a meeting point in case anyone gets lost and remember what clothing the children are wearing, in case we need to help look for them.

On Sunday, Marine Drive will be closed between the Plough roundabout and The Coastal Road, between 06:00am to approximately 2:00pm for the SOUTHPORT TRIATHLON. Traffic will be diverted onto the Promenade. Access to Ocean Plaza will be available via Marine Way Bridge. This is a busy event that brings a lot of people into Southport.

Police Officers are already out in Southport this morning, with more neighbourhood Police Officers and PCSO's on duty later on. Come over and speak to us when you see us.

Have a great weekend and be safe.
