Busy Afternoon for Southport Rescue Crews Covering Multiple Beach Incidents

life

Like many SAR organisations around the country, our crew were inundated with taskings this afternoon.

Our quad bikes were first tasked to assist in a search for a missing child on Ainsdale Beach. As the quads were arriving on scene, the child had been located and was reunited with his family.

As our quads were arriving back at the station, a call came to the boathouse requesting our assistance in searching for an additional three missing children, last seen entering the water at Ainsdale Beach. The Heather White was tasked to assist in this search. After approximately 30 minutes of searching, the children were located.

As our boat was returning to station, we received information about an ongoing incident at Formby Beach. The quads and boats made best speed to Formby and assisted other assets already on scene, which included Coastguard teams, beach lifeguards, police, rangers, and North West Air Ambulance paramedics. The quads and boat supported the incident for approximately one hour before being re-tasked to Lifeboat Road, Formby, following reports of a person with a dislocated knee and in considerable pain on the beach.

The quad team arrived and administered casualty care, before the individual was extracted from the beach for further medical care.

Our thanks to all involved in what has been a busy and challenging afternoon.
