Southport Triumphs: 3-0 Win Over Warrington in a Game of Two Halves

A fine Southport win on the road at Warrington Town this afternoon.

Two different Southport sides took to the field in each half with only Chris Renshaw playing the full 90 minutes in what was a very good work out for the lads.

The first half eleven finished goalless at half time but it was a half with plenty of chances with Arthur Gnanoua setting the scene when he fired just wide after only 90 seconds.

The best chance of the half came in the 6th minute when a Luke Burgess corner found the head of Luke Tabone and he headed over when free just 8 yards out.

Southport continued to press the home goal but couldn’t find the finish that some very good build up play deserved.

The home side had a good shout for a penalty on 38 minutes as they came more into the game and they should really have gone ahead in first half added time when after a goalmouth scramble the ball was superbly cleared off the line by a Southport defender.

The second half saw the goals with first of all Dana Amaral heading home from a Danny Lloyd corner in the 48th minute and A Trialist added the second in the 51st minute with an excellent turn and finish.

What a leap by Dana Amoral to score.

Warrington rarely threatened the visiting rearguard in the second half and it was left to Lloyd to fire in a long range shot that flew into the net and see a final score of 3-0.
